(AP) ? Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard stumbled and was caught by a security guard as riot police helped her force a path through a crowd of rowdy protesters following a ceremony to mark Australia's national day Thursday.

She was unharmed and later remarked that she was made of "pretty tough stuff" and commended police for their actions.

Some 200 supporters of indigenous rights had surrounded a Canberra restaurant and banged its windows while Gillard and opposition leader Tony Abbott were inside officiating at an award ceremony.

Around 50 police escorted the political leaders from a side door to a car. Gillard stumbled, losing a shoe. Her personal security guard wrapped his arms around her and supported her to the waiting car, shielding her from the angry crowd.

The protesters had been demonstrating for indigenous rights nearby at the so-called Aboriginal Tent Embassy, a ramshackle collection of tents and temporary shelters in the national capital that is a center point of protests against Australia Day.

Australia Day marks the arrival of the first fleet of British colonists in Sydney on Jan. 26, 1788. Many Aborigines call it Invasion Day because the land was settled without a treaty with traditional owners.

Abbott appeared to be the target of protesters, who chanted "shame" and "racist" outside the restaurant.

The Tent Embassy celebrated its 40th anniversary on Thursday. Abbott had earlier angered indigenous activists by saying it was time the embassy "moved on."

Gillard was unharmed and later hosted another Australia Day function for foreign ambassadors at her official residence.

"The only thing that angers me is that it distracted from such a wonderful event," Gillard told reporters.

"I am made of pretty tough stuff and the police did a great job," she added.

'To be able to make history like this is a wonderful accomplishment,' Tech N9ne tells XXL of Hostile Takeover Tour.

Nobody tours like Tech N9ne. Last year, the Kansas City, Missouri, spitter ran through an astounding 82 shows in 85 days, and now Tech Nina's looking to outdo himself when he embarks on his Hostile Takeover 2012 Tour in March. The MC is promising 90 shows in 99 days.

"I started planting the seeds for this music thing to expand more than 10 years ago and to see it be recognized globally like this is a beautiful thing," Tech Nina told XXLMag.com. "We started Strange Music so we could make the music we wanted to make and tour like we wanted to tour. Now, to be able to make history like this is a wonderful accomplishment."

Tech will be bringing MTV's 2011 Hottest Breakthrough MC Machine Gun Kelly, Krizz Kaliko, Mayday, Stevie Stone and Prozak on the road with him for planned stops in New York City, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Las Vegas.

"It's a world-record-setting tour for hip-hop. I think it's a beautiful thing for all the ragers," Machine Gun Kelly said in a promotional video on XXL's website.

The energetic Tech delivers a headlining set which usually lasts about two hours, and that kind of performance takes a lot of preparation. Before his All 6's and 7's Tour last year, the Strange Music CEO talked to MTV News about what it takes to get into tour shape.

"You gotta take your Syntha-6 protein shakes, you gotta drink those, you gotta eat right. You gotta eat every two hours. You gotta try to get up to six times a day; I haven't even got up to four," Tech Nina told MTV News last June. "I have been workin' out with [a personal trainer] for like four months. So now I'm out here by myself, and I gotta get a jump rope, we already got the dumb bells, we already got the mats, we already got the medicine ball, and your voice, it just has to grow accustomed to yelling every night."

theflyonthewall.com: On The Fly: Mid-Day Wrap
Stocks on Wall Street were higher at mid-day, as better than expected results from Goldman Sachs (GS) helped extend a recent rally in shares of major U.S. banks. The averages remain higher as they have been since shortly after the open. The market lurched higher following the better than expected reading from the NAHB Housing Market Index. The reading added to sentiment that a recovery is underway in the housing sector. The S&P stalled when it hit the 1300 level, the same level it struggled to hold yesterday. The jobs market took a potential hit when it was reported the White House was set to reject the Keystone pipeline project, although it was also noted that TransCanada (TRP) will be allowed to reapply... ECONOMIC EVENTS: Domestically, producer prices dropped 0.1% in December, versus an expected increase of 0.1%. Excluding food and energy, prices rose 0.3%, versus the expected increase of 0.1%. Industrial production rose 0.4% in December after a revised 0.3% decline in November. Capacity utilization rose to 78.1%, matching estimates. The NAHB Housing Market Index had a reading of 25, versus the expected reading of 22. Also, reports circulated that the International Monetary Fund, which currently has about $385B available to lend, would like to lift that figure by about $500B after identifying the potential for an eminent $1T global financing gap... MARKET NEWS: Goldman Sachs advanced as cost cutting, particularly in compensation, helped its profits beat Street estimates. Among other financial firms reporting earnings, U.S. Bancorp (USB), PNC Financial (PNC), Bank of New York Mellon (BK), Charles Schwab (SCHW), and State Street (STT) all traded lower... Shares of Yahoo! (YHOO) rallied following the resignation of founder Jerry Yang, as some expect his exit to ease the way for a sale of the company's Asian assets or a buyout of the whole company... Linear Technology (LLTC) reported results that surprised to the upside, and issued upbeat guidance, lifting its shares as well as industry players including Fairchild Semiconductor (FCS) and Freescale (FSL)... MAJOR MOVERS: Among the notable gainers were Amphenol (APH), after its results beat forecasts, and Net 1 UEPS (UEPS), following the award of a national tender by the South African Social Security Agency to one of its subsidiaries. Noteworthy losers included Majesco (COOL), after its Q4 results and FY12 guidance disappointed, and BancorpSouth (BXS), following its filing to sell $100M in common stock... Roy Disney family mulls bid for Dodgers (AP)

LOS ANGELES ? The family of the late Roy E. Disney is in talks with other investors about making a bid to buy the Los Angeles Dodgers out of bankruptcy.

The talks were confirmed Monday by Clifford Miller, managing director of the Disney family's investment vehicle, Shamrock Holdings.

Roy Disney was the nephew of Walt Disney, but the family's investments are not directly tied to the operation of The Walt Disney Co., which controlled the Angels from 1998-03.

Miller said Stanley Gold, the chief executive officer of Shamrock, is seriously exploring investing in the team along with the Disney family and other investors, including several in the Los Angeles area.

Gold has gone through the process of qualifying the investor group to make an initial bid by the Jan. 23 deadline, and the group is examining the team's financial records.

Dodgers owner Frank McCourt, who put the team in bankruptcy last year, agreed with Major League Baseball to sell the team by April 30, which coincides with the deadline for McCourt to pay former wife Jamie a $131 million divorce settlement.

Among other potential bidders are:

? a group that includes former manager Joe Torre and is headed by real estate developer Rick Caruso.

_Steven Cohen of the hedge fund SAC Capital Advisors.

_a group that includes former Los Angeles Lakers star Magic Johnson, former Atlanta Braves and Washington Nationals president Stan Kasten and Guggenheim Partners chief executive officer Mark Walter.

_a group that includes former agent and current Chicago White Sox special assistant Dennis Gilbert, talk show host Larry King and Jason Reese of Imperial Capital.

_a group that includes former Dodgers general manager Fred Claire, former Oakland Athletics president Andy Dolich and former Dodgers batboy Ben Hwang, who brought in the financial backers.

_former Dodgers owner Peter O'Malley.

_a group that includes former Dodgers stars Orel Hershiser and Steve Garvey, and Joey Herrick of Natural Balance Pet Foods.

_Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban.
