Another week down and we?ve somehow managed to add even more stuff to our to-do list for the house. My pregnant (aka nesting) heart is secretly glowing with happiness, but it makes for one very tired mama at the end of each day. In addition to making some home improvements and redecorating, we?ve decided to utilize our living space a little better, which makes sense considering we?re adding another human into an already full house. It?s also a good thing because it was time to clean out and organize every single drawer and cabinet in the house and garage. And there?s no better time than the nesting phase. Right?
While I wish we had started one project ? one room ? at a time, we ended up throwing in the towel and doing everything at once. That is the part that makes my nesting heart go a tad crazy because everywhere I look, there?s something to do ? and it?s not just little projects, it?s big, all day projects. Again? The theme of this month is ?tired?. The very first project we started with was the living room. We set out to make it as family-friendly as possible, while keeping our sense of style and some hint that adults actually live here. It?s still not done, which is okay because it?s going to end up being the most costly of the projects, but I am working on a bunch of amazing DIY projects to help cut costs and our new rug arrived from Mohawk Home. It?s starting to come together!
Because we recently painted the interior a new color ? and because I?m nesting ? I was all of a sudden inspired to change the entire theme and look of the family room. I picked the Mohawk Home Select Cambridge Hidden Escape Beige Area Rug to tie in the greys, browns and to add pops of color with the slate blue and muted yellow. We just put in dark wood floors (you can see a glimpse of them in the picture above) and have dark wood furniture, so it had to coordinate somehow. We wanted something that could compliment the existing furniture and new floors, but something that would brighten up the room and add a little bit of a modern touch. The new rug makes me happy and it?s easy to clean ? yes, we have already tested that aspect of it.
The food thing is still baffling me ? in a good way. I call anything I cook or bake ?Baby Made Me Do It? because I literally plan dinners by spotting one item as I walk through the grocery store. I made Eggs Benedict for dinner one night because the Hollandaise sauce was calling to me from the shelf at Trader Joe?s. Everything (except the gluten free English muffins for the 5-year-old and myself) can be found at Trader Joe?s: Regular English muffins, Hollandaise sauce, ham and eggs. I added some dried basil to the sauce while warming it up on the stove and topped everything with a little salt and pepper. It was amazing.
The swelling has begun. Luckily it?s only in my fingers, so far. I already have chubby fingers to begin with, but this picture made me realize just how swollen they can get by the end of the day. This was my attempt to tell/show my husband that we had a great day. Note the tired, no makeup look compliments of the house and all the unfinished projects.
What?s one way to help with pregnancy-induced swelling, poor circulation and hip and back pain? Why a pregnancy massage, of course. Yesterday I spent the afternoon hanging out at the new Luxe Lounge and then treated myself to a massage. Word to the wise? If you?re in So. Cal. go ahead and just book your pregnancy massage at La Costa Resort and Spa, but if you?re not local, make sure your location of choice has the maternity pillow that allows you to lie on your tummy! I didn?t want it to end and I slept like a happy, relaxed pregnant mom last night. Because, really, there?s no such thing as ?sleeping like a baby?.

Disclosure: Mohawk Home sent us the area rug to help complete our family room makeover. La Costa Resort and Spa treated us to a ?Sex and The City? Spa Party to experience the new Luxe Lounge. All opinions are my own.
