Indian Ministry of Home Affairs has placed a fresh restriction on SMS and MMS services in the country.
Mobile users in India are now restricted to sending five messages per day. This restriction is applicable for the next 15 days.
The restriction is related to communal violence in some parts of the country. The government believes that sms/mms technology is being used to spread hatred.
There has also been talks about putting restrictions on social networking services for the same reason.
Right now, we have not seen any ban on any of the social networking platforms. But we imagine that the government has directed these services to keep an eye out on people who might use their platform for spreading hate.
