LONDON (AP) -West Ham scored three times in an impressive first-half display against Fulham to win 3-0 in the Premier League on Saturday and claim its second straight home victory of the season.
Signed on a season-long loan from Liverpool on Thursday, England striker Andy Carroll made an immediate impression on his debut for West Ham by setting up the opening goal for former Newcastle teammate Kevin Nolan after only 53 seconds.
Winston Reid and Matt Taylor added further goals before the break, with Carroll giving the Fulham defense a tough time with his power and aerial prowess before limping off with a hamstring problem in the 68th minute.
That could force him out of England's upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Ukraine.
"It's a huge result but the only real disappointment for us is Andy might have tweaked a hamstring," West Ham manager Sam Allardyce said. "It is hugely disappointing if that's the case ... but it will be unlikely he goes (away with England).
"I don't think he has much chance - sadly for (England manager) Roy (Hodgson) and sadly for us."
Fulham, which sold key attacking players Clint Dempsey and Mousa Dembele this week, lacked ideas up front even when deadline-day signing Dimitar Berbatov came on for the second half.
West Ham has six points after three matches, three more than Fulham.
