Summertime is here and that means optimum weather for outdoor entertaining! So go ahead and dust off those lawn chairs, fire up the grill and prepare to dazzle friends and family with the latest in outdoor entertainment!
When planning for outdoor activities, prepare both the inside and the outside of your home for guests by doing some prep work such as mowing the lawn and paying attention to areas inside of your home that guest might access, such as your bathroom and kitchen. Also, make sure that there is plenty of seating for each guest. Spreading blankets or beach towels on the ground is an inexpensive way to make instant seating.
Now that the prep work is out of the way, let?s talk about some unique ways to entertain your guests. While the typical backyard barbeque is always in style, I think we can agree that it?s time to put a fresh spin on entertaining, right? How about a moonlight matinee? This one is as easy as setting up a projector outside and playing some movies. A white sheet or an exterior wall can be used as a screen. Refreshments can be kept simple with popcorn and movie candy. Serve up some root beer floats as a cool and refreshing drink. Classics marathon, anyone?
Another great idea for outdoor entertaining is to bring camping to your backyard. Who doesn?t love a good campfire complete with roasted marshmallows? Set up a few small tents and fill them with board games and flashlights. Using a fire pit or small grill, let guests make s?mores and hot dogs. Sit back and relax as guests tell campfire stories. Keep a scary one in mind to thrill your guests.
If wine is more your thing than hot dogs and soda, host a poetry night and invite friends to share either their favorite author?s poem or one of their own. Set up a small stage and some simple seating. Serve some basic appetizers and your favorite wine and enjoy the watching your guests entertainment each other. Include music acts to add variety to your entertainment.
